Month by Month — Our Honest Assessment
May is our favourite month for Positano weddings. Temperatures reach a comfortable 21°C, the village is at its most photogenic with bougainvillea in full bloom, and the summer crowds have not yet arrived. There are up to 11 hours of sunshine per day and almost no rain. The sea is warming up to 19°C — swimnable for the brave. Venues are available and pricing is still reasonable compared to peak summer.
June is equally beautiful — temperatures climb to 25°C, the sea reaches 23°C, and the light in the late afternoon and early evening is extraordinary for photography. The first two weeks of June are particularly popular as they still feel intimate before the Italian school holidays begin. Note: some venues enforce blackout dates around 2 June (Republic Day) and 11–17 June is when the church of Santa Maria Assunta cannot celebrate weddings.
September is the other great month. Summer heat retreats to a very comfortable 25°C, the sea remains warm at 25°C — the warmest of the year — and the village mood shifts from frenetic to refined. The golden September light produces some of the most beautiful wedding photographs of the year. It is also the month when many venues offer slight flexibility on pricing after the August peak.
July and August are possible but demanding. Temperatures peak at 28°C with high humidity, and the village fills with tourists. Photography in the village streets becomes logistically difficult during peak hours. Venues book out up to 18 months in advance and pricing is at its highest. If July or August is your only option, we plan ceremonies for early morning (before 10:00) or early evening to avoid the heat and crowds.
April and October are beautiful shoulder months — quieter, more affordable, and with a gentle romantic atmosphere. The risk of rain is higher (particularly in October), so we always recommend venues with a reliable indoor backup option. The sea is cooler in April (16°C) but fully swimmable by October (22°C).
